Swansea & Gower Sabeel-Kairos group.

On the first Friday of the Month at 12.30 a group meets at St Mary's Church in central Swansea for a short service -. which is based on the Sabeel-Kairos 'Wave of Prayer'.         Sabeel-Kairos UK is a small Christian charity which is committed to supporting peace and justice in the Holy Land. It stems from a Jerusalem based group of Christians who call themselves Sabeel-Jerusalem who called on Christians throughout the world to stand up and support the oppressed, work for justice and engage in peace building in their home the Holy Land, using the life and teachings of Jesus as their inspiration. Their work alongside others led to the World Council of Churches in 2009 declaring a Kairos Moment - a Moment of Truth. They published the Kairos document with the 'Iona Call' in 2012 calling on Christians to stand up for a just peace in the Holy Land.

Our small group in Swansea is one of hundreds throughout the world who meet regularly and pray for those in Palestine using the 'Wave of Prayer'. We send out a monthly newsletter telling each other of events being organised in this area for support of the Palestinians. Our January one had news of the money raised in 2019 by groups across Swansea for a Boys' Home and school in Bethany and for a Children's educational voucher scheme in Jerusalem, news of our Quiet Day which used some of Banksy's Palestinian paintings as focus for our thoughts and news of a Swansea shop which had stocked and sold goods from Women's Cooperatives over the Christmas period. We sent photos of these events to the Priest at St Philip's in Nablus. He said how good it is to know that even in the bleakest of times, people around the world are thinking of them and praying for them.

Anyone who cares to join us at anytime is very welcome. The next meetings are Fridays 7th February, 6th March, 3rd April, 1st May, 5th June and 3rd July at 12.30 at St Mary's Swansea. Please come and join us.
