Cape Horners


Two copper barques round Cape Horn in rough weather. The ships are running low, full of heavy ore. A most dangerous part of the voyage for all concerned. The ships would strain at every seam, coping with monstrous seas washing over the bows. It was a case of pumping without ceasing.
