There is now a great deal of interest in the return of the three bells to Santiago. They will form the centre piece of a memorial to those 2,500 people who lost their lives when the Church of La Compania de Jesus was burnt to the ground. The Chilean Foreign Minister, Alfredo Moreno issued a statement: " In a moment when Chile is commemorating its 200 years of existence, the UK's gift is extremely valuable since it recovers part of our history. We wish to thank the Oystermouth Parish for such a generous gesture, which is of great importance to Chile."

President Pinera has expressed an interest in coming to All Saints to give his thanks and unveil a plaque. During September Chile will hold a month-long celebration to mark the 200th anniversary of independence and the Embassy in London has kindly donated a Chilean flag for us to fly to celebrate our renewed links with the people of Chile.
